Second and Third Trimester Pregnancy Advanced Clinical Ultrasound Training Part 1

Ultrasound is the preferred imaging modality for the assessment of the anatomy of the female pelvis and enables evaluation of all stages of pregnancy and detection of a variety of pathologic conditions. The Second & Third Trimester Pregnancy Advanced Clinical Ultrasound Module Part 1 concentrates on evaluating basic fetal anatomy, pregnancy dating, and cervical length determination. The focus is on transabdominal scanning, but the transvaginal approach is also discussed for certain indications, such as determining cervical length, assessing fetal anatomy, and evaluating for placental abnormalities. The four fetal biometric measurements required for dating and for estimating fetal weight are discussed in detail. This module also explores the use of color-flow and pulsed-wave Doppler in assessment of fetal cardiac anatomy and certain fetal malformations.

The Second- & Third-Trimester Pregnancy – Part 1: Advanced Clinical Ultrasound Module provides in-depth information on the sonographic evaluation and monitoring of normal embryologic and fetal development and pathologic conditions that become evident in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. This Second- & Third-Trimester Pregnancy – Part 1 Module focuses on evaluating basic fetal anatomy, pregnancy dating, and cervical length determination. (Part 2 concentrates on fetal growth, amniotic fluid, placental abnormalities, assessing twin gestations, and performing biophysical profiles.) This module mainly presents a transabdominal scanning technique, but the transvaginal approach is also discussed for cervical length measurement and other specific indications. Sonographic characteristics of fetal anatomy are discussed in detail and include neuro-, facial, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and musculoskeletal anatomy. The four fetal biometric measurements required for pregnancy dating and for assessing fetal growth are also discussed. Learners develop appropriate second- and third-trimester pregnancy ultrasound skills through 40 hands-on scanning windows from 10 different real patients.
