Scrotal ultrasound is used by several medical specialties and has considerable utility in a bedside clinical setting. The Scrotum: Anatomy & Physiology Module begins with an overview of the role of ultrasound in the evaluation of the scrotum. A brief review of scrotal anatomy and physiology is provided. The sonographic anatomy of the scrotum and its contents is described in detail. Optimal transducer selection, patient positioning, imaging approaches, and Doppler adjuncts for sonographically evaluating the scrotum are discussed. The course concludes with imaging tips and pitfalls and a summary of salient teaching points.
