The Introduction to Breast Ultrasound: Advanced Clinical Ultrasound Module provides a comprehensive overview of the foundational principles and clinical practice of breast sonography. Learners will explore the role of ultrasound in breast imaging, including its advantages, limitations, and complementary use alongside mammography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A detailed review of normal breast anatomy, physiology, and developmental changes across various life stages is included. Through guided instruction on patient positioning, transducer selection, and scanning techniques, learners will gain practical skills for image acquisition and lesion characterization. The course also details BI-RADS® reporting standards and examines the application of breast ultrasound in special populations, including women with dense breast tissue, pregnant or lactating patients, and individuals with breast implants. The course concludes with case-based examples illustrating commonly encountered clinical scenarios. Breast sonography skills are developed through six hands-on scanning cases from real patients, ranging from age 26 to 81. By completion of the module, participants will understand how to perform systematic, reliable breast ultrasound examinations and integrate these skills effectively into clinical practice.
